I work with women, gender-diverse, Two-Spirit, and 2SLGBTQ+ adults who are carrying complex experiences while continuing to show up in their day-to-day lives. This may include trauma or complex trauma, substance use or addiction, relationship strain, grief, burnout, anger, shame, emotional shutdown, justice-system involvement, or coping patterns that may have helped at one time but no longer feel sustainable. I also work with people navigating the impacts of high-pressure roles, including emergency response, policing, corrections, health care, and other helping professions.
My approach is grounded in the belief that people make sense in context. The ways we cope, protect ourselves, relate to others, or move through the world often developed for good reasons. Therapy can be a place to understand those patterns with care and honesty, and to begin changing what is no longer helping.
I take an integrative approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment, and psychodynamic perspectives as needed. My style is steady, direct, and engaged. I’m not passive. I’m also not rigid; I adjust to what is actually happening for you.
My background includes federal corrections, therapeutic group work, and collaboration with First Nations governments. I’m comfortable working with complexity, contradiction, and the practical realities people are navigating.
I offer a space that is supportive and active, where we can make sense of what you’ve been carrying and work toward change that is realistic for your life.
I believe counselling is a collaborative process, where we work together to ensure therapy reflects your unique needs, goals, and values. My approach to therapy is client-centred and emotion-focused and I integrate a range of evidence-based approaches, including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, and mindfulness-based practices. I have many years of experience supporting women who have experienced abuse and trauma, as well as working with individuals wanting to focus on anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, and personal development.
I am an approved Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) counsellor.
